Airport Vehicles

Exhaust emissions at airports are a sensitive subject, for two principal reasons. The first concerns the health and safety of staff who may be working in close proximity to the exhaust gas stream of vehicles such as tugs and mobile conveyors. The other important reason is that airports tend to be located close to cities and major road networks with the result that local air quality is already under pressure.

Vehicles used at airports are often highly specialised and for this reason are expensive to replace. This fact combined with the very tough economics of the aviation industry means that ground handling and support companies can be forgiven for trying to maximise the service lives of the vehicles they operate, and upgrading the exhaust emission control system can help to facilitate this.
