Blackthorn Environmental Limited was established in 1996 and is now one of the UK’s leading specialists in reducing toxic exhaust emissions from internal combustion engines. The need for our products and services is mainly regulation-driven, although many of our customers see regulations as a starting point rather than a finishing line. Regulations tend to fall into one of two categories:

• Health and safety regulations covering the workplace, which are in danger of being breached whenever internal combustion engines are used in confined spaces
• Air quality regulations, which apply across whole regions or countries but which are most difficult to achieve in areas with large population density, high levels of traffic or intense industrialisation.
